How To Style Your Washroom

Washrooms.  Or ‘the loo’ as some might call it.  It may not be the most glamorous room in your home, but it is often visited by you and your guests.  There are many ways to spruce up your washroom -  make it feel cozy, warm, and as inviting as a washroom can be.  We’ve gone beyond the days of fluffy toilet seat covers and washroom carpeting.  So what can you do to make the porcelain throne room a happy place?

Plants

Plants have always symbolized natural and fresh.  Why not bring a little bit of that into your washroom?  Pick a smaller plant to have sit on your vanity counter.  It’ll add a little life and colour to an otherwise less lively room.  Popular plants choices are bamboo, cactus, and aloe vera plants due to their smaller size and easy maintenance.  It can sit there all cute without taking over space and needs little effort from you. Bonus.

Trays

Trays have become the way of organization in many rooms, the washroom included.  It gives the room a hotel feel that is generally – and very happily – associated with being on vacation.  We love the idea of feeling like we’re on vacation every time we step foot in the washroom.  The tray can be the place to keep everyday items.  More often than not, you’ll find darling little jars filled with cotton balls and cotton swabs, a small candle, and various soaps and lotions.

Stools

A common theme we are loving lately is the use of stools as casual shelving. Put a stool on the side of the tub to use as your towel holder, wine holder, or just a place to keep your soaps and shampoos – but we really like the idea of a wine holder, let’s be honest here.  It’s a very cute alternative to towel racks or using the sides of your bathtub.  There’s nothing about half empty shampoo bottles lined up along your tub that screams serenity. Nothing.
