Celebrating Summer

It’s officially summer, and we’re celebrating the best way we know how – by being outside! From RVing to weekends at the cottage to lounging on backyard patios, we’ve got our summer plans set. Here are the tips we’ll be living by over the next few months to make the most of our beautiful Canadian summers.

BRINGING THE INDOORS INSIDE
Get inspired outdoors by considering the way you style your interiors. Mirroring interior colours, textures, and layouts in your outdoor space instantly helps to create a cohesive feel. The best outdoor spaces aren’t all that different from your favourite indoor spaces – inviting, comfortable, and cozy.

Take it to the next level by pulling some accessories from around your house outside for your next event. Even if you just bring the items out for the night, pillows, vases, and other decorative items are a great way to make your outdoor area feel warm and personal.

GET LOUNGING
We like to keep lounging top-of-mind when decorating outdoor spaces. The right furniture practically begs you to lay out in the fresh air all day – just don’t forget the sunscreen!

FIRE UP THE BARBEQUE
Take your cooking outside! From king of the barbecue to grilling novice, we’ve got you covered. 

TO GET YOUR NEIGHBOURS DROOLING:
Wait for the right moment to cook. Let the flames die down a bit before you toss on your steaks. Big flames create unpredictable, uneven heat that results in meat that’s burnt on the outside and raw on the inside.

Make your own burgers. Homemade burgers are the best burgers! In the age of the Internet, you can find great recipes at the click of a mouse.

Don’t forget your veggies. Yeah, meat tastes amazing when grilled, but so do vegetables! Slice your veggies thin and add them to the barbecue right away. Once they’re cooked, toss them in olive oil, salt, and pepper to let the fresh flavours shine through.Get the right barbecue. It may sound like a given, but the right barbecue makes a big difference.
